I need to hop over and check out the criteria since the title is "Top YA of 2010", I was expecting to see only contemporary novels but was excited to see that this list is apparently going "all the way back" to the early days of YA (before YA was even its own genre). It also seems to be quite variant in terms of theme, which is cool.

I'm also curious as to the breaking out of "series" into the individual novels. Granted, in some series there are always certain books I like more and others I like less. There are also some "series" books which are fully stand alone and don't need to be lumped in. But when an entire series goes together to complete the whole, I would think it better to tell somebody to "read the whole series" rather than to break it out into individual books (especially if the ranking may put them out of order...).

As to recommendations, I'm not quite as well read on YA but I'm slowly catching up.

Of those not yet blue, I can recommend Speak, Book Thief, & The Westing Game as enjoyable reads and of strikingly different characteristics one from another.Okiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01393689307300304035noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-594502524570705142.post-22020482994433648822010-08-29T12:47:04.526-05:002010-08-29T12:47:04.526-05:00Where the bloody heck is The Lightning Thief! This is breaking my heart haha I'm also surprised Incarceron isn't on there, but maybe that's because it was a wee bit confusing?

I can't believe Shiver is on the list though *shudder*(blechhh). It has its faults but its good. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is a must-read (you should probably skip the introduction though). Vampire Academy has its merits. Louise Rennison a hilarious genius. So is Meg Cabot. I have an intense dislike for all things Stephenie Meyer.TrueOrFalsehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08127933475497342056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-594502524570705142.post-34758665167720466592010-08-28T20:36:44.843-05:002010-08-28T20:36:44.843-05:00Hahaha! And I definitely plan on reading more Sarah Dessen books in the future - I usually stick to fantasy/paranormal because I find contemporary fiction a little on the boring side, but Sarah is a master.Ameliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14767350676055319412noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-594502524570705142.post-2170372271090215782010-08-28T20:18:10.160-05:002010-08-28T20:18:10.160-05:00:o I'm surprised at all the Sarah Dessen book...:o I'm surprised at all the Sarah Dessen books you DIDN'T read! I thought everyone had read those! Although, seeing that you didn't like Forever that kinda makes sense! :P And you won't read Fire? Does that mean you didn't like Graceling?! BLASPHEMY! :P I feel the exact same way about Thirteen Reasons Why though. Just doesn't look all that great. I haven't read Sabriel but it's one on my tbr list! This list has brought me much joy today!Monicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16540128080942531939noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-594502524570705142.post-78495904120955247272010-08-28T20:14:00.456-05:002010-08-28T20:14:00.456-05:00I would recommend The Book Thief.
