Extra! Extra! Have You Read These Books?

From now on, I'm going to be doing reviews a little bit differently. In addition to posting my thoughts about whatever book I'm reviewing, I want to also include some 'blogger blurbs'.

So please share your thoughts - good or bad - and when I post my review for the book, I'll include your thoughts too!

This week I'm going to be collecting comments for the following books:

Gone - Michael Grant
Beautiful Creatures - Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Linger - Maggie Stiefvater
White Cat - Holly Black
Pretties - Scott Westerfeld

If you've read any of these books and have some thoughts you'd like to share - I don't care if they're positive or negative - please leave a comment! And when that book is reviewed, I'll post your comments, too!

* Note: they don't have to actually be "blurbs." I'm more interested in your opinion!

12 shout-outs!:

Ooh! I like this idea!!

I've only got a White Cat blurb: "Addictive, deadly, and a bit surprising, White Cat delivers an excellent and intriguing story that demands to be read."

I've only read Gone and Pretties. Gone is good, not AMAZING but good, there's A LOT of gore though, let me warn you. and there's twice as much gore in Hunger. :S
As for Pretties, everything is amazing, but be warned: There are A LOT of bubble heads. :) So if you think Paris was an ok character...but if you just take the bubble-headedness as it is, you'll be fine. :)

Guess I just repeated my comments on Goodreads... :P Stupid me! :)

White Cat: "Way I summarized the book to friends in four words: Cat-girl and magical mafia."

I just started Uglies :)

I liked the cover of White Cat, but I don't like the font. What's up with the author's name being larger than the title? I kept thinking it was "Black Cat" half the time.

I'm in the middle of White Cat and so far I'm loving the way cons play out, as well as the continual twists.

As for Beautiful Creatures, that featured an interesting male perspective, fresh ideas, and a stunning setting.

I've read White Cat, Gone, & Beautiful Creatures. All of them are fantastic. I''m reading Linger next, but no Uglies for me.

My blurb/comment thing for Gone: "A fast-paced thriller with intriguing characters and some kick ass fight sequences."

The way I always describe White Cat: "A tale of an emo boy whom you can't help but love and his family of lunatics. Oh, and there's magic too."

I can't think of one for Beautiful Creatures right now, but the word Southern comes to mind whenever I think about it.

This is a great idea, but I'm sorry my comment's so long!

I've read White Cat (and will be reading Beautiful Creatures) and loved it! I kind of think of it as the urban fantasy version of The Godfather but with characters you actually like and want to root for.

I was seriously just going to do this exact same idea! Blast. :)

It looks really awesome. I can't wait to see what you do with it.

Gone: A modern take on Lord of the Flies. At turns it creeped me out, made me tense and even made me angry but definitely kept me intrigued.

Pretties: Been too long since I read it-- sorry. Oh wait-- makes me think of 'kick start my heart' by Motley Crue-- Wow, Bubbly, Man!

I've read Beautiful Creatures and Pretties, and both were great. I'm reading Gone now.
