Old Reads, (Fairly) New Reviews

When I read a book now, I post reviews both here and at Goodreads, which may in actuality be incredibly redundant, but it's the system I've got for now :)

But the books that I read before getting on GR are in a bit of a weird situation...because they have no reviews. Oh dear. And the books I read after GR but before my blog are in a similar predicament. Oh dear. So this will be my beginning effort at reorganizing.

The first review I think I should post is from a relatively popular title... maybe you all have heard of it - some of you might have even read it :)

It occurred to me that I've never written a review of Twilight. But then I stumbled on this, and it's pretty much word-for-word exactly how I feel about the book...pretty much, at least. :D

So here's a review of Twilight from someone who knows a thing or two about writing. Guess who it is:

Twilight, Stephenie Meyer. I'm a sucker for a good vampire story, so I wanted to see what all the buzz was about. The story was a page-turner: regular teenage girl falls in love with a guy who turns out to be a vampire. I thought the writing needed some editing. If the girl's heart skipped a beat one more time or the vampire smiled his "perfect crooked smile" I was going to fling the book across the room. But hey, I kept reading to see what would happen next. I'm sure the book will be popular. It would make a good movie.
- 2005 entry from his blog. That's right, folks. This review was written by the one, the only:

RICK RIORDAN !

7 shout-outs!:

hahaha I love Rick Riordan. He's so right. We were just discussing the Twilight series at work, and while I enjoyed the first one, I grew bored by the story. I felt the writing was a bit plain, though accessible to all, and while entertaining, it's forgettable. Harry Potter, on the other hand...well, it's just perfection :)

My sentiments too! Idk, they were okay. HP certainly wins in the creativity department... :D

lol...love the Riordan review. I'm with him. The story was fun and the writing was alright, but after a while, I just got sick of the saccharine and wanted to move on. Haven't gone back to read any of the follow-ups.
